EteonBot

What it does

Eteon builds a sales assistant for an online store. When a store owner, or someone preparing a demo for that store, starts a build, EteonBot reads the store's public catalogue, policies and pages so the assistant can answer that store's shoppers accurately. It does not buy anything, fill in forms, create accounts or place orders.

How to recognise it

• User-Agent: EteonBot/1.0 (+https://eteon.net/bot)
• Web Bot Auth: requests to Shopify stores are signed with HTTP Message Signatures. Signature-Agent: "https://eteon.net"
• Public keys: /.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory

How much it reads

• It reads a store once per build, plus occasional refreshes requested by the store owner.
• It follows robots.txt, including rules and Crawl-delay written for EteonBot.
• It slows down as soon as a site answers 429, 403 or 503, and stays slow for the rest of the read.
• What it reads stays on Eteon's servers and is used only for that store's assistant.
