Where the tag goes
Storefront, then Script Manager, then Create a Script. Set Location to Footer, Pages to All pages, Script type to Script, and paste the line into the box. Save.

Because it lives in Script Manager rather than in your theme, changing or updating the theme leaves it in place.
What it answers from
The crawl of your storefront: product descriptions, shipping policy, returns policy, and any FAQ or support content you publish. It reads tables and PDFs as well as prose, which covers the size charts and spec sheets that stores tend to publish as attachments.
No live inventory read
Eteon’s live stock and order lookup is a Shopify connection today. On BigCommerce the bot answers from the crawl and can be re-crawled on demand, but it is not querying your inventory in real time.
Worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
Handover
Order changes, refunds and payment questions route to a person with the transcript attached, rather than being improvised by the bot.

Does it appear on the BigCommerce checkout?
Set Pages to All pages and it loads where Script Manager permits. Checkout script placement is restricted by BigCommerce on some plans — and a chat widget on checkout is a distraction from a completed purchase in any case.
Does a theme update remove it?
No. Script Manager entries are stored outside the theme.
Will the widget slow my BigCommerce site down?
The tag is deferred, so the browser finishes laying out and painting your page before it is fetched or executed. Nothing about your page waits on it, and if it fails to load your site is unaffected.
Do I need a developer?
No. You copy one line from your Eteon dashboard and paste it into BigCommerce's own code field. There is nothing to build, no package to install, and no framework requirement.
What does it cost?
